Four heroic boys rescue abandoned dog starving and tied up with bungee cords

Kenneth, Kenny, Andrew, and Kevin didn’t realize they would change a dog’s life forever.

Raising kids with values, compassion, and a love for animals is something to be proud of.

Four years ago, it was just a usual day for these 4 young boys who decided to help a woman move her belongings into their neighborhood. They assisted her and while doing so, they heard something in a nearby vacant house.

They went near the abandoned house to check and were shocked to see a very skinny, weak, sad dog inside.

The poor dog was abandoned and had been tied up with bungee cords.

It was definitely intentional. How could someone deliberately leave their poor dog tied up with bungee cords like that? How cruel is that?

The boys immediately acted and untied the poor pup. One of the boys rushed to bring the puppy home with him. There, they took care of the poor puppy and named her Sparkles.

Kenny Dancy, 13, Kenneth Dancy, 11, Kevin Dancy, and Andrew Daniels, 7, made sure that Sparkles was okay and they showed her that she was worthy of love and care.

They took the responsibility of taking her in and even took time to play with her until the Detroit Pit Crew came.

According to their Facebook page:

“Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization. Our mission is rescue the Destitute stray dogs of Detroit. We rescue any breed of dog that is living on the streets of Detroit and that is injured, sick or pregnant.”

When the DPCDR arrived, the boys took their time to ask the rescuers about what would happen to Sparkles.

They wanted to make sure that she would be okay.

“You could tell they really love this dog,” Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue founder Theresa Sumpter said to her interview with WDIV. “They were protective of the dog and wanted to make sure the dog was going to a good place.”

Happy with the boys’ attitude and kindness, the rescuers asked if they could get a small interview, to which the boys happily agreed.

After the short interview, the four boys hugged and kissed Sparkles and the rescuers took her in. She was brought to a vet where they checked if she had mange, but she didn’t.

After a few more routine checks, Sparkles got her “go” signal and she was sent to her new foster home. Before long, Sparkles was adopted into a wonderful and loving home.

As for our four young heroes, well, they have continued rescuing dogs in their neighborhood. How great is that?

Just a few months after they rescued Sparkles, they were able to save two more stray puppies!

Just rescued! These are two more sweet dogs rescued by the same 4 brothers that rescued Sparkles. We weren't able to…

Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue posted a thank you note for the four boys on their Facebook page:

“These are two more sweet dogs rescued by the same 4 brothers that rescued Sparkles,” Detroit Pit Crew wrote on their Facebook post. “We weren’t able to take their pictures because they are in school today but we wanted to put a shout out to them and say thank you for being heroes to two more dogs. Both dogs are now on board with Detroit Pit Crew and headed to the vet’s office.”

It was such a beautiful story of kindness and rescue.
