You don’t need to have a pet turtle to appreciate this.

It’s really just a delight to watch!

To give you an idea of what it’s like to care for turtles, Vet Technician Jessica Gomez writes,

“Depending on the species, turtles can be herbivores, carnivores, or omnivores. Pet stores offer a range of turtle food products in pellets, sticks, and chunks, formulated for different types of turtles and providing balanced nutrition with appropriate vitamins and minerals to keep the turtles healthy. However, this type of bland food is not the only thing turtles can eat, and it can be healthier and less expensive to offer turtles a range of fresh foods.”

It gets easier, too. Baby turtles only need to be fed twice a day, while adult turtles require only a frequency of three to five times.

The important thing to remember is that the food required depends on the turtle you have. In Kyle’s case, a water type. Since most aquatic turtles are omnivorous, Kyle shared a popsicle recipe that cleverly combines both meat and plants.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Shad
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Pond water

The steps are pretty simple, too!

First, slice all the ingredients into small pieces.

Then, put them in a popsicle mold and fill it with pond water.

Seal the mold with a cover, and don’t forget the stick. Freeze the popsicles for at least four hours.

Once the popsicles are frozen solid, it’s time to feed the turtles.

You’ll be amazed at how eager Kyle’s turtles were to devour the treats! They swam out of the water and began to approach, one at a time. A few minutes after, the rest swam to the surface for their fill. It must be a really tasty treat for the turtles since some even seemed to push the others out of the way!

Kyle’s popsicles were gone in no time!

Now that’s a creative way to feed your pets and actually enjoy the preparation yourself. With this kind of approach, you won’t have to see feeding time as another boring chore anymore.

If you don’t have pet turtles of your own but know someone who does, be sure to pass on this recipe! They’ll surely appreciate it, especially when they see how much their turtles enjoy it.
